In 2004, Mr. Aiello drafted criteria (approved by the Board of Directors on April 30, 2004) to be used when considering candidates for induction into Colorado's Italian American Hall of Fame. In addition to actions that benefit or have benefited Colorado's Italian American community, nominated individuals must also meet the following criteria:
  • Contributing time, talent or money in a manner that reflects positively on the Italian American community and heritage
  • Owning and operating a business that benefits the community in substantial ways
  • Attaining professional acclaim or achievement
  • Directly or indirectly benefitting the Italian American community
  • Serving the United States of America
  • Notable service or philanthropic efforts that benefit the Italian American community
  • Notable service or philanthropic efforts that benefit the community community-at- large

Note: Any individual (regardless of ancestry) whose actions benefit or have benefitted Colorado's Italian American community and/or Italian Americans* can be nominated for induction into Colorado's Italian American Hall of Fame.

*Person or persons of at least 1⁄4 Italian ancestry. Any person with less than 1⁄4 Italian ancestry will be considered on an individual basis with regards to individual achievement and/or contribution

Note: to avoid any potential conflict of interest, Mr. Aiello disqualified himself from consideration of induction into Colorado's Hall of Fame (if applicable) until after his death.
